A sculptor fascinated by painting—and more specifically by landscape painting and color—his work is rooted in perception and invention, in the creation of effective and self-contained devices. Each “Tableau Porte” from the Arcades triptych shares common characteristics: the vertical format of a passageway, the soothing quality of a welcoming form, its placement within a canvas tailored to its size—which frames it while allowing it to “breathe,” particularly thanks to the white side strips through which air flows—and the identical method of application through successive layers of paint. The door, by its very nature, calls out to the body. *Arcades* reveals a chromatic harmony within which the eye moves from the border toward the interior and from the interior back toward the border. The time spent on the surface of the work amplifies our visual and mental capacity for comprehension and acts as a form of reconciliation.
